| Marshal of the Soviet Union MALINOVSKY Rodion Yakovlevich (1898-1967) During the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945), Commander of the 48th infantry corps, Commander of the 6th Army, commanded the troops of the Southern Front and the 66th Army; Deputy Commander of the troops of the Voronezh Front, Commander of the 2nd Guards Army, Commander of the 2nd Ukrainian Front. His talent as a military leader was best displayed in the Battle of Stalingrad, in the Zaporozhye, Nikopol-Krivoi Rog, Odessa, Yassy-Kishinev, Debrecen, Budapest, Vienna and other major operations for liberating Ukraine, Moldavia, Hungary, Austria and Czechoslovakia. Twice Hero of the Soviet Union, was awarded the highest military order of Victory and many other orders and medals. |
